BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
The dial is on the front of the Coastguard office building.
The dial is white with a black border on which the numerals are painted in golden lettering.
The upright Roman numerals show the time from 6am to 5pm with half and quarter hour divisions. Noon is shown as XII and 4 as IIII. Some lines have been drawn above the horizon line.
The gilded rod gnomon is supported by a simple strut.
The inscription at the top of the dial: ‘S.WESTON Esq… MAYOR 1814’
