BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The dial is at the rear of the old tennis court lawn. It is hand-engraved, and the motto reads “Make Hay While the Sun Shines”. There is an 8-point compass rose, the labels to be read from the outside. Roman numerals for 4am to 8pm, using XII for noon (with a split noon line), to be read from inside, divided to 10 minutes. 4am uses IV but 4pm shown as VI in error. Carved stone baluster-style plinth, on a circular base. Originally placed in the Walled Garden where SRN 5744 is now (2014). It was purchased in 1908 when the rose garden was sunk, but was moved to its present position in the late 1950s. At that time there was a open view to Goatfell behind it, but now trees and bushes surround it on three sides.
