BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Trinity House courtyard, Newcastle upon Tyne

This great declining dial is painted with black lines & numerals on a white ground and mounted in a wooden frame set on stone wall. Numerals are unusually drawn with thick lines for the ’I’s and thin lines for ’V’s & ’X’s. Shows 4am to Noon in hours and with the two half hours: 4.30 and 5.30am. Noon is marked as XII and there is no split substyle. Thin strip gnomon with two supports. Name is of "John Welford Master Anno 1721" . Probably in its original position, never having been moved. Access during weekdays 10.00 - 17.00.
