BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St James’ Parish Church, Hamsterley

The dial is over the porch. The motto reads: "Man fleeth as it were a shadow". Simple gnomon with nice sunburst decoration at the root. The arched dial plate is cracked vertically along the line of the gnomon but the halves are well held together by clamps and under support. Ref: Mrs Gatty, 4th ed 1900, p 324
