BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Borders Region

The dial is surmounted by the worn head of a man. The stone is flaking but some lines and upright Arabic numerals are visble. The inscription across the top is in Hebrew, with the motto just below reading "Ut Umbra Sic Vita". Ref: A R Somerville, Proc Soc Antiq Scot, 117, 1987, "The Ancient Sundials of Scotland".
