BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dalton Castle [NT], Dalton-in-Furness

The dial was originally in Dalton Cemetery and dedicated to Wm Henry Johnson who died 6.4.46, but is now (2017) mounted atop Dalton Castle. It shows 4am to 8pm in Arabic numerals read from the outside, with a noon gap and no subdivisions. The plate has a central circular border of two entwined double zigzag lines, and the motto at the south reads: "Lux Es". The gnomon is supported by a serpentine fish. Greater detail is provided in report R11617.
