BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Cumbria

The dial is 200m N of Bridge House, opposite the Health Centre. The original house was built for Harriet Martineau but divided into two in the 1960s. The motto around the plinth top reads: "COME LIGHT, VISIT ME *MMS + HM" Ref: Autobiography of Harriet Martineau, Virago 1983.
