BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Church of St Peter. Over S porch, Belton (Rutland)

The square dial plate, with moulding around the edges, is set into the stonework above the entrance to the south porch. A supine crescent moon under gnomon root, from which hourlines emanate. Shows 5am to 4pm in 30 and 15 min marks. Side numerals vertical but sloping in line with hour lines. Numerals IX to I are fully vertical. Uses Cross for Noon, and IIII. Heavily undercut gold gnomon with snowflake-like (and other) piercing and with a serrated underedge. Dial recut and gilded 2001. Ref: Churches of Rutland Vol 2 in Rutland series, Spiegel Press
