BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Anglesey Abbey [NT] (3), Lode

The motto on this dial is: ’Serene I stand among the flowers; I only count life’s sunny hours. For me dark days do not exist: I’m a brazen-faced old optimist’. An inscription indicates a date of 1785 and the maker ’B Cox Kew’, but it is likely that the dial was made in the early 20th century. The same motto, and a very similar gnomon, are found on a dial at Wilton House in the USA (SRN 8102). It is mounted on a fine stone baluster pedestal with spiralling and leaf decoration, and may be found near the Abbey in one of the lawns. There are several dials to visit here.
