BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Anglesey Abbey [NT] (2), Lode

Father Time appears in person with this dial, having taken solid form as a carved statue poised in perpetual examination of its face - no doubt checking the reading for accuracy. Made in 1769 by Watkins and Smith of London, the dial was originally mounted in the gardens at Stowe. It has subsequently been mounted in the hyacinth garden at Anglesey Abbey, though frustratingly enough in a location which never sees the sun. The gnomon had also been sawn off, but this has now been restored, with an engraved snake pattern supporter. The Abbey is a National Trust property so visiting all the dials here is possible during opening hours.
