BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Sussex (E)

The dial is in the castle gardens. Reclining equiangular dial commemorating the tercentenary of the founding of the Royal Observatory at Greenwich. Dial originally at Herstmonceux, was previously at the RGO in Cambridge. Now (1998) returned ’home’. Ref: Taylor GE J Brit Astr Ass 86 7 ; Dec 1975 [The Register records that ’the Gnomon was damaged in the move back from Cambridge. Information from non-member. Confirmation requested.’]
