BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Hugh Miller’s Cottage [NTS], Cromarty

The dial was restored in 1998 by the Edinburgh workshops of Heritage Scotland and the maker’s name ’Hugh’ was discovered on the underside of the dial plate. The plinth is is an elaborately carved column in several sections, probably painted, and inscribed ’HM MDCCCXXX’ Ref: A R Somerville, The Ancient Sundials of Scotland,1990 Ref: ’Heritage Scotland’ published by the NTS, Vol 15 No 3, Autumn 1998.
