BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Brodie Castle (2), Forres

The dial stands on the square capital of an urn-shaped stone pillar about 4 feet high, mounted on a two-stepped square stone base. The dial shows hours IIII - XII - IIII - VIII, read from the outside, with a noon gap and divided to 30, 15 and 5 minutes inside the chapter ring, and to 10, 5 and 1 minute outside, the 10s marked in Arabic. An anticlockwise EOT scale shows individual dates and corrections to the minute, with WATCH SLOWER, WATCH FASTER marking. There is an 8-point compass rose labelled to NE etc. At the south is ’Adie, Edinburgh’, probably Alexander James Adie (1755-1858) or his son John.
