BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Dumfries & Galloway

The dial cube has sculptured sides and is mounted on a fluted hemisphere, on a square shaft and a square step, overall about 1200 high. The dial face is the top surface of the cube, very weathered but with lines still distinct, and correct for the latitude. It is mounted 180° out of true. It bears initials ’A H E D’ (Andrew Heron, Eliz. Dunbar). Ref: McGibbon & Ross v 501; G R Higgs
