BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Dumfries & Galloway

The dial plate is weathered green, but legible. It has Roman hour numerals for 4am to 8pm and is divided to 2 minute intervals. There are a 16-point compass rose and EoT scales. The gnomon is 18 mm thick. The dial stands on a fluted and decorated grey sandstone column 560 high on an octagonal base slab 1300 a/f. A brass plate on the base reads ’In memory of Dash who died November 22 1869. An affectionate friend of Leila Ada Fox’.
