BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Lawrence Church, Chorley

The church lies in the centre of the small town of Chorley, and this fairly large dial is incised in the wall to the west side of the south porth. A dedication reads: "John Pollard et Robertus Topping / Custodes Sacrorum / Anno Domini MDCCCXXIIII / Sine Sole Sileo". The face of the dial shows times from 6.00 am to 6.00 pm and is graduated in half hours. Ref: Gatty 1900, where it is described as ’in Chorley Churchyard’.
