BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Lancashire

This venerable dial is one of a pair of dials in the churchyard; its date is thought to be in the 1600s. It is octagonal in shape and has lost its gnomon. The brass dial plate bears the engraving of a sun, with the motto: "Turn your face to the sun and your shadows will fall behind you".
