BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Lothian Region

This is a copy of the Newbattle Abbey dial (SRN 1493), made for Lord Haddington in 1800 but never finished. The whole structure is 5 m high, standing on an octagonal column and one step. No dials are present. The octagonal drum has two facets on each side with shields and heraldic devices on the upper faces but the lower faces blank. It is surmounted by a carved obelisk resting on four bearded heads and supported by four winged figures. Ref: A R Somerville, Proc Soc Antiq Scot, 117, 1987, "The Ancient Sundials of Scotland".
