BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Aberdour Castle (3), Aberdour

Multiple cube, oriented to the cardinal points with four reclining dials surmounting it and with a spherical dial complete with rod axis as a finial. All gnomons for planar dials present. VS face shows 6am to 6pm in hours. VE face shows 3am to 11pm in hours. VN face shows 7 and8 am and pm in hours. N face also has an EoT table and Lat. Finial dial is marked in hours with the Noon line facing South suggesting that a movable gnomon arc is missing. Lines are marked for the equator, tropics and the two arctic circles. All time scales now worn. Red, square section sandstone pedestal on octagonal and larger round steps. Uses Arabic numerals on main faces but Roman on the finial. Dial originally at Castle Wigg but moved here in 1972. Design Latitude is stated as N5445. Ref: A R Somerville, Proc Soc Antiq Scot, 117, 1987, "The Ancient Sundials of Scotland".
