BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Northamptonshire

The dial is between windows at the first floor level. Across the top is the date 1703, and the hour band shows 2pm to 8pm in Roman numerals using IIII for 4, divided to half and quarter hours. There is a floral border around the sides and top, and at the foot is the motto : "Dum loquimur fugerit invida Aetas / carpe diem quam minimum credula postero" (While we talk, envious time flies / seize the day, put no trust in the morrow), Horace, Odes, 1.11.
