BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Cheshire

Made by Horrocks in 1767, not surprisingly it is in poor condition. Many churchyard dials were for regulating the church clock. The church wardens often bought a clock and a sundial at the same time, sometimes the clockmaker also made the dial. This sort of dial on a tall pillar is often called a horseman’s dial, to read the time without dismounting. I wonder if any provision was made for shorter people or children.
