BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Mary’s Priory, Clare

Access private but straightforward. The dial is high on a chimney breast. The gnomon is vertical but the 6am and 6pm lines are not horizontal. Shows 6am to 6pm in hours. Painted black lines and numerals on white ground. In 1969 this dial was reported to be declining 20d East and to show 6am to 4pm. Some ’renovation’ may have occurred.
