BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
The dial is outside ’Dial House’ on the North West side of the road. It is set about 3,000 mm (10 ft) high on a fluted square column (formerly part of a wayside cross) mounted in turn on a truncated four sided brick pyramid. The dial is surmounted by a large ball finial.
The south, east and west faces have vertical dials with iron sheet gnomons. The north face has no dial but shows the date ’1637’ and initials ’E.I’. (in arches). Some hour lines are visible. On the south face some vertical Arabic hour numerals can be seen, from 6am to 6pm with 12 for noon. There are no subdivisions.
