BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Lauriston Castle, Edinburgh

This lectern dial with star contains 26 various dials including heart shaped, cup and triangular sinkings as well as inclining and proclining dials. A number of metal gnomons of various types are present. The date of 1684 is on the vertical north face, bookended by two small north facing dials complete with gnomons. Some Arabic numerals. Stands on a square pedestal with a tapering top within a flower bed in front of the castle. Originally from Cartsburn House in Greenock, west of Glasgow, where it belonged to the Crawford family. In 1870/71 it was moved to Lauriston Castle, once the home of the Napier family of logarithm fame.
