The obelisk stands some 8-10 ft high, set diagonally on two square steps. It was originally at Barnton House. The shaft has five square panels on each side with verticals and very elaborate sinkings, and the date 1692 on the lowest panel. The boss is standard with no hollows, eight verticals on the octagonal band, corners cut out, reclining and inclining dials above and below. The finial has seven panels, all with dials.
