BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Strathclyde Region

The dial stands in a small lily pond. The shaft has four panels on each side, with hollow and vertical dials. Initials on the north side are ’EDG CIG’ (Earl David Glasgow, Countess Jean Glasgow). The boss is standard with four cup hollows on an octagonal band and four verticals. The corners are cut out with four dials on reclining surfaces. The dial is topped with a ball on a four-sided finial, with no dials. The plinth is a square block about 600 high by 450 wide, with carving of sun, moon and a 5-pointed star on three of the sides. Some metal gnomons are missing or reduced to stumps. Ref: A R Somerville, Proc Soc Antiq Scot, 117, 1987, "The Ancient Sundials of Scotland", p11 (A12).
