Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Strathclyde Region

The dial is visible from Kelburn Country Park. The shaft has 15 square panels on each side with cup, heart, triangular and rectangular hollows with dials. On the north side are initials ’EDG CIG’ (Earl David Glasgow, Countess Jean Glasgow), and a Coat of Arms, with lion rampant. The boss has an octagonal band in the middle, tapering above and below, with corners cut out, cup hollows, vertical, reclining and inclining surfaces with dials (standard type). The finial has seven panels with 25 inclining dials, surmounted by a weather vane bearing date and initials. Some gnomons are formed in stone, others are copper; in some cases only stumps remain, and sizes vary.
