BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Cumbernauld House, Cumbernauld New Town

The obelisk is mounted on 2 square steps & a shallow sloping cobbled base. On the shaft are initials E / I W and C / M W, for Earl John of Wigtown and Countess Margaret (Ormary). All metal gnomons are missing, the remainder formed in the stone. Shaft: 5 square panels on each side, sinkings with dials and verticals. Boss: Standard type, central octagonal band with no hollows, all vertical, reclining and declining dials, corners cut out, mounted 180 deg out with respect to shaft. The finial has eight spandrels with a ball on top, and is 90° out (the south face is over the west face of the shaft).
