BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Lothian Region

The dial is embedded in a large ball marked with hour lines on an elegant carved plinth resting on two square steps, the whole mounted (probably recently to 1984) on two shallow much wider circular steps. The original is in red sandstone with restored parts in grey sandstone. The shaft has four panels on each side (a fifth is embedded in the ball of the plinth). There are sinkings with dials and verticals. The boss is standard with a central octagonal band with hollows and verticals, corners cut out, reclining and inclining dials on surfaces above and below - restored. The finial has possibly six panels, with the top broken, no gnomons remaining, restored. Craigiehall was the British Army HQ in Scotland until 2015.
