BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Lothian Region

Shaft: 5 square panels on each side, raised patterns resembling typical obelisk but no dials inscribed. Boss: standard but hollow with a dowel through middle and dials raised, not sunk, corners cut out. Vertical, reclining and inclining, some gnomons present. Finial: 5 panels pierced like boss, with decorative designs which are not dials. 6 - 8 ft high on 3 square stone steps. The boss was restored by T Ross who designed the rest of the structure to match it, ie only the boss is original, possibly 18th century.
