BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The dial stands 5-6 ft high on a cubic block bearing sun, moon and 5-pointed star, and initials possibly ’RB’ and ’DBH’. The shaft has five square panels on each side with many sinkings with dials and verticals. The boss is standard with a central octagonal band, corners cut out, hollows on cardinal faces, reclining and inclining dials above and below. The finial has three panels on each side. The top is broken and the gnomons are missing. The dial was originally at Meggatland House, Edinburgh, but was taken to Hutton Castle and thence to Glasgow. Put into storage in 2002, and not likely to be returned (per Margaret Ribchester, July 2013) Ref: A R Somerville, Proc Soc Antiq Scot, 117, 1987, "The Ancient Sundials of Scotland", p7 (A8).
