Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Strathclyde Region

This obelisk is probably 18th century. The shaft has four squre panels on each side - hollows of various shapes, some vertical, all with dials. The north side has initials ’DL MS’, and a Coat of Arms including a lion rampant. The boss has an octagonal band tapering above and below, the corners cut out, with hollows and vertical, reclining and inclining surfaces with dials. The finial is restored, with spandrels on each side and a modern armillary on top. The gnomons are mostly formed in the stone. There are some copper gnomons but generally only stumps are present.
