BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Briochus, Lezant

The setting of this dial is spoiled by two electric lamps and their unsightly cables. It is not easy to read the inscriptions in the arch of the dial but they consist of the motto, "Vt Hora Sic Vita" (As an hour, so is life), the date, 1686, and the churchwardens’ initials JC and ZW (was he Zachariah?). The dial is an early example of the use of Arabic numerals for both the date and the hours, the flat-topped 8s being typical of that era.
