BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St. Brueredus, St Breward

Mounted on the church porch to the right of centre, this dial enjoys the sunshine for the whole of its time range. As is quite common, the engraver (T Symons) has not marked out his inscription with chalk or charcoal before starting to carve and has left himself with insufficient room to complete the first line without resorting to cramped superscript. The dial is not only dated to the year 1792 but to the actual day - June 21st. Perhaps it was planned to erect it on the summer solstice.
