BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Andrew’s Church (1), Dalton-le-Dale

Gatty (4th ed 1900 p53). Mee Kings England Co Durham p46. Roman numerals VII - XII - I set internally on the north wall of the nave. From a plaque in the church: ’... The row of numbers are thought to be illuminated by a shaft of light emanating from a slot in the roof or one of the windows in the south wall ... It is only on St Andrews day [30th Nov] that no correction is required ... The date .. Is thought to be 18th century ...’
