BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St John Baptist’s Church, Axbridge

The dial is placed at the top of the stair turret, too high for easy reading . Hours shown are 6am to 6pm in 30, 15 and 5 minute intervals. Churchwardens’ names - possibly A Good and CT Bowker- + date are also shown. The dial has a ’split noon’ - though the width may not be equal to that of the gnomon. Also the gnomon angle seems incorrect for this locality. There is an 8 point star and a date. The gnomon may be a replacement.
