BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Andrew’s Church, Sherborne St John

Diamond-shaped vertical wooden dial above the south porch. A very basic dial in poor condition. There are no hour lines, only metal Roman numerals screwed to the wood. They show 6am to 6pm but some of the characters are missing. The 6am-6pm line appears to be horizontal which is incorrect as the dialface declines west of south. There is a plain wooden frame, in very poor condition, around the dial. The strip gnomon has a single straight supporter. Its angles are wrong - perhaps it is loose.
