BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
The dial is below the clock on the tower.
The motto ’Disce dies numerare tuos’ (Learn to number thy days) is arranged around the top of the circular dial which is raised up on a lozenge shaped square stone. Date in the W & E corners and Cross and ’X’ décor in the N and S ones. Inscribed ’Wilkie Grimsby’ at the lower edges of the dial stone. Shows 6am to 6pm in half and quarter hours. Small square around gnomon root with hour lines drawn full length to there. Half hours drawn inward part way from chapter ring. Uses XII and IV with numerals aligned with hour lines. Rain-release gnomon support. Set on a single corbel. Surface quite dirty in 2000
