BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Powys

The dial stands in the churchyard on a square-section pillar about 1200 high, said to be a cut-down churchyard cross. It is difficult to read any inscription but the church guide says: ’Ex dono Johannis Lloyd- 1717 – Ut hora, sic vita’. The dial shows 4am to 8pm using IV and XII, read from the inside, with a noon gap for the substantial gnomon, and divided to 30 and 15 minutes. Ref: Magazine ’Bye-gones’, 3/10/1898.
