BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Andrew’s Church, South Tawton

High on the stair turret is a very plain stone dial, strongly canted west to achieve due south orientation. According to Mrs Gatty it once bore the motto, "Obrepit non intellecta senctus" (Old age creeps on unawares) but there is no trace of that now. It shows 6am to 6pm in Arabic numerals and the hours are undivided. There is no evidence that they were ever otherwise. It measures 550mm square.
