BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Threave Garden [NTfS] (2), Castle Douglas

The dial is on the wall to the left of the gate. The wall declines east by 5 degs. Solar to Mean time instructions on adjacent plaque Slate dial with four point fixing. Shows 5am to 7pm in half and quarter hours though these lines are v faint. Lines for 5am and 7pm shown above horizon. Split substyle at Noon, Uses IV and XII. Inner arc shows cities where time is noon: 7am Bombay, 10am Jerusalem, 4pm Atigua, Lima 5pm, Rio 3pm
