BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Drumlanrig Castle (1), Thornhill

The dial has moon rings at staggered intervals as well as an outer ring of hours. It is inscribed with a family crest and shield. Ref: A R Somerville, Proc Soc Antiq Scot, 117, 1987, "The Ancient Sundials of Scotland", p70 (F1).
