BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The dial is mounted on an octagonal stone table carried by the massive sculpted head of a man, on a stone gun-platform overlooking the sea at the castle entrance. At the south is the Kennedy Coat of Arms, with the motto in a ribbon below : ’AWISE LA FINE’. (The motto of the Kennedy clan is ’Avise la fine’ or ’Consider the end’). The dial is also inscribed: "WATKINS Charing Cross LONDON Lat 55° 30’ ". At the centre is a 16-point compass rose labelled to WNW etc. The dial shows 4am to 8pm, using XII and IIII, the numerals read from the outside. The hours are divided to 30 and 10 minutes in an inner ring, and to 2 minutes around the perimeter, labelled in Arabic at 20, 40 and 60. The solid sigmoidal gnomon has quarter-round side supports.
