BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Dumfries & Galloway

There is a vase-shaped octagonal plinth with a table top on which the dial block rests, bearing a motto, initials, and the date 1855 when the dial was re-erected. It is a cube with heads carved across the corners and edges, dials N, S, E and W, and a horizontal on top. Hour lines and numerals are clear and the gnomons all present. The date 1676 is carved above the south dial. Ref: A R Somerville, Proc Soc Antiq Scot, 117, 1987, "The Ancient Sundials of Scotland", p65 (E10).
