BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The dial takes the form of an octagonal block with hollows N, S, E & W marked with hour, half and quarter hour lines. Vertical dials NE, NW, SW, SE, those on SE and SW also showing declination lines, zodiac signs and compass points. Numbers and lines are very clear. Many gnomons are distorted. There is a loose brass octagonal horizontal on top with minute divisions. Ref: A R Somerville, Proc Soc Antiq Scot, 117, 1987, "The Ancient Sundials of Scotland", p64 (E9). There are more photographs on the Geograph website.
