BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Strathclyde Region

The dial is set on a squat square waisted baluster about 750 high. It is a cubic block with heart-shaped hollows N and S where the cusps of the hearts act as gnomons, and bowl hollows E and W with broad stone gnomons carved across the centre, all marked as dials. Above is a stepped block like a rudimentary lectern dial, but horizontal on top, with a metal gnomon. No other facets are marked as dials. The date 1688 and initials MCC are on the north face. Ref: A R Somerville, Proc Soc Antiq Scot, 117, 1987, "The Ancient Sundials of Scotland", p60 (E5).
