BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Martin’s Cathedral, Leicester

This dial on the south wall declines 8 deg east, and shows 5am to 3pm in Roman hour numerals, using XII for noon, with no hour lines or half hour markers. The motto across the top reads: ’Coeli Enarrant Gloriam Dei’, Ps xix 1 (The heavens declare the glory of God). Roman date at upper right in the chapter ring. The centre of the dial plate holds a large Greek cross with the symbols of the four Evangelists carved in the sunken panels between the arms of the cross: Angel (Matthew), Eagle (John), Winged Ox (Luke), and Winged Lion (Mark).
