BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Thomas’ Church, Stanhope

Motto reads: "Ut Hora Sic Vita". Similar mottos have been recorded at Felton, Heddon-on-the-Wall, Whitton-le-Wear and Jarrow. This dial of 1727 is on the south chancel wall, to the right of the door, but may originally have been above the porch. Shows 10am to 7pm in half hours and quarters. Erected when Bishop Butler (or Burton?) was Rector.
