BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

9 The Green, Hurworth

Typical of this area. Shows hours VII - XII IIII - VI, read from the outside in half and quarter hours. The error in declared latitude (54 not 51 degrees) is attributable to successive repainting. For much of the year this dial is lost behind advancing ivy and requires careful examination to spot it. Compare SRN 0830, in the same village, which is by William Emerson, and SRN 8565 at Piercebridge, just 9 miles away.
