BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Gibside Hall [NT], Rowlands Gill

The dial is mounted above the door, and has been damaged by gunshots. The motto reads: ’UTI HORA SIC VITA’, as recorded by Gatty (UTI is an alternative form of UT). Shows 5am to 5pm in half and quarter hours, using XII and IV, the numerals being oriented in line with the hour lines. There is a single ’S’ supporter to gnomon. Ref: Mrs Gatty p 457. A horizontal dial can be seen in the enclosure near Gibside Chapel (SRN 0168).
